Aqim Bukhari

Grand Muftī of the Emīrate of Bukhārā and leader of the Council of 'Ulema in Bukhārā. In his youth, al-Bukhārī studied Islamic jurisprudence and exegesis in Anatolia and Iraq, bringing him into contact with Europeans and European Enlightenment ideals. Upon his return to Bukhārā, al-Bukhārī's prestigious education provided him influence in the 'ulema. He has swiftly risen to to lead the Emīrate's scholarly circles and now influences the Emīrate's domestic policy.
