Shogun since the age of fourteen, Tokugawa Ienari is already the longest reigning shogun of the Tokugawa Dynasty. Yet it has remained clear that longevity has not led to prosperity. In his late reign, the Tenpo Crisis has plagued his reputation as disaster after disaster has struck the shogunate. Little time has been spent with his children, who number well over seventy in number. With little time to work with, it remains unclear whether Tokugawa Ienari can save the reputation of his name and his whole dynasty.
