Yozo Torii

Perhaps the most fervent supporter of the Sakoku policy of isolation, Yozo Torii has no patience for Rangaku within Japanese society. Instead, he wishes to ban so-called "Dutch knowledge" in order to maintain a powerful Japanese shogunate. Any western modernization of the military is something Yozo Torii believes to be potentially disastrous and he seeks to do all in his power to maintain the traditional harmony of Japan, an isolated nation that only seeks measured and limited contact with strictly Asian neighbours.

Long ousted from power, rumors has it that Yozo Torii still holds daily rants in a small keep in the central mountains of Japan to a dedicated group of die-hard samurai followers. Few care for his influence outside of such quarters, however.
