Liberal Leader
A wealthy rural landowner aligned with the country aristocracy, Castro Pereira was a martial and devoted proponent of the liberal cause from his youth, leading a cavalry unit with Napoleon's Portuguese Legion and aiding the Liberal cause during Portugal's civil wars as attaché to Madrid, governor of Braga and eventually legislator. Aligned with the Vintist faction in Portugal's parliament, he was appointed to a Ministerial position during the Passos administration.
