António José Severim de Noronha

A soldier and noble, Antonio de Noronha served with distinction during the Peninsular Wars and fighting against the Miguelist usurpers during the Liberal Wars. His leadership holding the Azores and spearheading the recapture of Lisbon earned him the noble title of  Duke of Terceira, in addition to his hereditary county, along with leadership over Portugal's armies, a seat in it's legislature and a rotating series of Ministerships. Though loyal to his Queen above all else, he tended to align himself with the more rightist Cartists, though he and his martial-noble supporters in court and cortes rarely involved themselves with the Vintist-Cartist parliamentary struggles.
