Moderate
Descended from an old Baltic German Family, Pahlen attained an impressive military career and quickly rose the ranks. From 1797 to 1818, he had fought in many battles all across Europe and was awarded 9 high ranking decorations. He retired from the army a Major-General at his own request.
In 1821 he became a civil servant, and eventually became a Lieutenant General and then Governor General of the entire Baltic Governates. From here he proved himself a competent statesman and further distinguished his military career during the Great Polish Uprising.
He had participated in well over 100 battles so far, he particullarly excells in commanding and organizing large numbers of troops aswell as going on the offensive. He is a traditionalist commander.
He is a known hater of minorities, Latvian people especially, and wishes to see all of Livonia, Courland, & Estonia replaced with Baltic Germans.
He is also very ambitious, and has done an amazing job so far in rising up the ranks both in the military and in civil service.
During the Vienna Congress War, he met the french-german cadet Clänker Gepetè, who quickly became his closest friend. Gepetè proved to be a brilliant artist who immortalized Pahlen's image in oil paintings that made him look herculean. Gepetè would make many Romantic works that made the movement flourish in the Baltics, mostly portraits that emphasized something he called "looks maximizing."
In the final 15 or so years of Governor-General Pahlen's life, he had become a drunk grifting senile prick, completely unfit to deal with the rapidly changing times. He is publically known to have funneled state funds into vanity projects to enrich himself, and has yet spent additional state funds on his drinking problem.
In 1854 he was killed during the Pants-Shitting Revolution, and died a disgrace. Coming from a faded era, he has proven himself to be a shit statesman; this, more than his distingished military career, will be what people remember about him.
