Reformer
Born to a poor family in the most urban part of Honduras, José Francisco Morazán Quezada became a man of action young. Struggling to find his way into a university due to poverty and a lack of connection the to the Spanish-born intellectual elite, despite his curious mind, Morazán instead opted to join the militia.
Morazán rose to prominence during the Central American Civil War, when Central America's first president, Manuel José Arce, marched on Honduras. Despite initial defeats, Morazán managed to rally exiled Hondurans living elsewhere in the federation to a total victory against Arce's forces. From them on, Morazán became a centralizing figure in Central American politics.
Morazán served the 2nd and 3rd presidencies in Central America and is now serving the 6th. Though a committed liberal reformer who champions the freedom and acceptance of all men, Morazán is unafraid to turn to the sword when his political ambitions are challenged. Ever pragmatic, the president hopes to balance the precarious geopolitical position of Central America against his personal desire to turn the country into a modern, liberal democracy.
