Though the Tocornal wing would make point about the need for such co-operations, the Chilean Foreign Office has remained thus far silent on the matter of new military agreements with Brazil, until today, when Emilio de Vidal, Minister of National Affairs has made a public statement.

"Brazilian steps in regards to the Peru-Bolivian Confederacy the decade prior have shown that Brazilian commitments are dubious at best, beholden always to the Lusitanian interest first.

When de Orbegoso rose up against Santa Cruz's position as the Supreme Protector, the men of Chile answered their call to arms alone, while Brazillians have watched on by, paid off with land and promises of the Treaty of La Paz.

And now, with the so-called, Bragança Doctrines, Brazil attempts to assert itself as the hegemon over South America, calling upon us to *outsource our defense to them*, they say.

General Bulnes has made his case before the Chilean assembly earlier today, and called for increase in funding of the Armed Forces. If Chile is to persevere as it did thus far, as a nation, sovereign and unbeholden to none, it must do so by the might of it's own countrymen.

Thusly, by its official stance, the government of Chile disavows The Bragança Doctrines in their entirety! Chile must look to itself for its security, and it will do so regardless of Brazillian interests in the region."
