Once again, the Chartists have proven their ineptitude. Carvalho was today dismissed from Her Majesty’s service as President of the Council of Ministers, taking his cronies in Parliament with him. The fourth Chartist to claim to our Queen the ability to salvage our fatherland from their cabals false-liberalization, insights before Parliament following the Christmas recess into this years rather desperate treasury report from certain heroic bureaucrats in our civil service proved the ex-Minister as voracious a devourer as his three predecessors. While most in our party expected the child queen to select as Carvalho’s replacement yet another of her masters favorites, she has bucked her trend towards surrendering country and sense by tapping the honorable M.P Manuel da Silva Passos to assemble a government with the intent of curbing the Chartists excesses. While the outrage this inspired on the floor of Parliament amongst the Chartists was quite entertaining in its own right, it did point to the unfortunate reality that Vintism - and common sense - remain in a minority amongst the seats of our yet natal assembly. In his wisdom, our Passos has declared his desire to pursue compromise and coalition in his new government, remaining loyal to the Constitution and keeping our hard won peace while instituting an “economic regime conducive to the enrichment of our entire nation and all its countrymen,” and “continuing to uphold the sacred right to private property.” The alternative, we have been informed, is the Queen dissolving Parliament entirely, in favor of new elections - an outcome many Chartists have good reason to fear, despite the fortune being accrued by some of their constituents. Regardless of the necessary compromises, the Luz is confident that our Passos will be able to turn about our ship of state and free our markets of state corruption and interference…
