O Captain! My Captain! our fearful trip is done; The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won; The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring: But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drop

The New Russia

1866 · Age of Empire

When Tsar Aleksandr took over Russia, he felt ready for the task. He had long studied the other European Nations. While his father saw strength in the old ways he saw inadequacy and weakness. While Russia had been the driving force behind the Revolutionary Wars, she suffered greatly. Many men had lost their lives not for land or ideals of Russia. Simply to quell revolts and republicanism, Austria and Prussia made gains but not Russia.

The new Tsar instead found knowledge in the wars. How behind Russia is technology and economy. Russia has vast resources, the people to work, but not the capital. The Tsar motioned to remove the antiqued economic laws to have more central control from the government but allow for private investors to build where and what they please. Many nobles were glad to be able to invest and build something other farms. Overnight the reform had brought many investors into Russia and assisted the government coffers on construction, so much that more construction sectors were built.

Afterwards, the old trading laws were focused on protecting the Russian market from an overflow of foreign goods. While Russia hasn't focused on much trade, the Tsar's advisors recommend that the government focus on building up some trade centers in order to promote more trade. Shortly after the new tax laws were pushed to collect from the income and not simply the peasants using land.

Russia is now full of hope, the only thing left is the Imperial army. With new breech loading cannons, and insight from the recent Northern War. Tsar has ideas but it will take some time. Until then armies will now move towards the usage of the cannons.

People have already named the Tsar Aleksandr as the Great Reformer, but his greatness is not done yet.
